Are you struggling to bridge the gap between you and your online coaching clients?

Building a meaningful connection and ensuring accountability can be challenging in the digital realm. If you want to wow your clients, deliver results, and grow your coaching business, overcoming this physical proximity barrier is key. In this blog post, I'll share my top three strategies to increase your clients' engagement, buy-in, and adherence to the plan.

1. Build a Deep and Meaningful Relationship:

Coaching is an art, not just a science. From the first interaction, focus on understanding your client on a personal level. Spend more time listening than talking, allowing them to express their needs and concerns. In the onboarding process, delve into details like their spouse's name, interests, and values. Show that you care because, in reality, you should care a lot! The client's perception of your care directly influences their commitment to the plan. Maintain this level of connection throughout the entire coaching cycle, from acquisition to transition out of coaching.

Pro Tip: "They don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care."

2. Frequency and Intimacy of Communication:

Fortify your relationship with frequent and intimate communication. Opt for mediums that allow clients to see your face and hear your voice. Consider platforms like WhatsApp or use tools like LOOM for video reviews instead of traditional emails. Offer monthly calls as needed; even if few clients take advantage, the availability is a significant value add. This level of communication not only deepens the relationship but also allows for proactive troubleshooting, making the coaching experience more seamless.

Efficiency Hack: Use LOOM for video reviews – speaking is quicker than typing.

3. Meeting Your Clients Where They Are:

Tailor your coaching approach to the client's current capabilities, skills, and values. Trying to force a mismatched plan onto a client can lead to failure. Learn about their preferences and limitations through building a relationship, and start them with a plan they can follow. Success comes from consistent adherence over time, not necessarily from complex plans. Adapt your coaching to the client, not the other way around.

Key Principle: Coach the client, not the program.

Conclusion:

Adherence is the linchpin of success in coaching relationships. Prioritize building a strong relationship, reinforce it through frequent and intimate communication, and tailor the plan to the client's needs. By following these three principles, you'll set your clients up for success.
